Don't you just love that feeling you get when you've been struggling with something and you finally get it?
It's gotta be one of the best feelings ever.
It just makes you feel so good about yourself.

Okay so tonight's episode had me kinda going ho hum you know? And then during the closing scene I realize that the song that is starting to swell is Dylan's Knocking on Heaven's Door. Oh man there was actual Wallace and Gromit style hand waving going on. That just made me so very happy.

Current Music: Better Than Ezra - Daylight
So I had an eventful day. I spent it watching Star Wars A New Hope amd Empire Strikes Back. Yup that's the most productive thing I did all day. Watched a couple movies with my dad. We probably would have just killed off the whole original trilogy had we started earlier.
It was kinda nice though 'cause it reminded me of when I was a kid and they'd show the trilogy on TV I would try and stay up late (which was probably like 10 o'clock) to watch and my dad would always stay up and watch it with me.
All in all not a bad way to spend my first Saturday with the semester over. To be fair I would have done it anyway but it was nice doing nothing and knowing I wasn't blowing off homework for once.
Now I must sleep as I need to get up way too early for a Sunday tomorrow.

I pulled several muscles in my back. It is not my best day ever. Even breathing hurts. Aren't I too young to have back problems? I'm reminded of a line from an Alkaline Trio song.
"When you're only 23 it's not attractive to complain about your sore back"
Well I'm not even 23 yet so I guess that makes it even worse. Well I'm gonna go lie down and watch my Season 3 DVDs of Titus. Ah sweet wallowing.

So this is my theme song. . . That's pretty cool I guess. Good song.
| Your Theme Song is Back in Black by AC/DC |
"Back in black, I hit the sack, I've been too long, I'm glad to be back"
Things sometimes get really crazy for you, and sometimes you have to get away from all the chaos. But each time you stage your comeback, it's even better than the last! |

Current Music: James - Sometimes
It's pouring outside.
It's past midnight and I can't sleep because I don't want to miss the rain. I love it.
The sound.
The smell.
The feeling I get whenever it rains.
It brings back so many great memories. Nothing can make me happy in quite the same way that rain can.
I'm going to go bask come more. But first, the lyrics to my favorite rain song.
Sometimes by James
There’s a storm outside, and the gap between crack and thunder
Crack and thunder, is closing in, is closing in
The rain floods gutters, and makes a great sound on the concrete
On a flat roof, there’s a boy leaning against the wall of rain
Aerial held high, calling come on thunder, come on thunder
Sometimes, when I look deep in your eyes, I swear I can see your soul
Sometimes, when I look deep in your eyes, I swear I can see your soul
It’s a monsoon, and the rain lifts lids off cars
Spinning buses like toys, stripping them to chrome
Across the bay, the waves are turning into something else
Picking up fishing boats and spewing them on the shore
The boy is hit, lit up against the sky, like a sign, like a neon sign
And he crumples, drops into the gutter, legs twitching
The flood swells his clothes and delivers him on, delivers him on
Sometimes, when I look deep in your eyes, I swear I can see your soul
Sometimes, when I look deep in your eyes, I swear I can see your soul
There’s four new colors in the rainbow
An old man’s taking polaroids
But all he captures is endless rain, endless rain
He says listen, takes my head and puts my ear to his
And I swear I can hear the sea
Somtimes, when I look in your eyes I can see your soul
(I can reach your soul)
(I can touch your soul)
Sometimes

Current Music: David Gray : The One I love
Have you ever done this?
You listen to a song for a while. You sing along to the chorus, it's pretty peppy and upbeat. You don't think too much about the lyrics.
Then one day you're less distracted or something and you pay more attention. You actually listen closely to the lyrics (or in the case of lead singers who don't enunciate, you read the lyrics).
Suddenly it hits you: the song is so not what you thought it was.
This happens to me more often than I'm comfortable admitting. The most recent occurrence however is with David Gray's The One I love.
Now I like David Gray quite a bit but I just recently got around to getting his most recent album. I love it though and especially The One I love. In my opinion it's one of his most addictive and catchy songs to date. Now if you're familiar with DG you know a lot of his music is slower, it's very powerful but some of his lyrics can be a bit . . . how do I put this . . . cynical? Not very optimistic? Something along those lines. This song however is different The chorus is infectious, it gets stuck in my head for hours. I whistle it, sing it, hum it, most the time I don't even realize I'm doing it.
The chorus:
Tell the repo man
And the stars above
You're the one I love
You're the one I love
The one I love
Now with that deceptively sweet chorus I was lulled into a false sense of security, I though it was simply a song about love. Ahh so naive.
Granted this line did seem a bit out of place in such a supposedly light-hearted song:
There's things I might have said
Only wish I could
Now I'm leaking life faster
Than I'm leaking blood
But sadly enough that wasn't enough to tip me off. But this line was:
As the tracer glides
In it's graceful arc
Send a little prayer out to ya
'Cross the falling dark
Tracer? I thought to myself. Wait a second that's a type of bullet. Suddenly it seemed this song was more than I originally thought. So I started the song over and this time I read along with the lyrics:
Gonna close my eyes
Girl and watch you go
Running through this life darling
Like a field of snow
As the tracer glides
In its graceful arc
Send a little prayer out to ya
‘cross the falling dark
Tell the repo man
And the stars above
You’re the one I love
Perfect summers night
Not a wind that breathes
Just the bullets whispering gentle
‘mongst the new green leaves
There’s things I might have said
Only wish I could
Now I'm leaking life faster
Than I'm leaking blood
Tell the repo man
And the stars above
You’re the one I love
You’re the one I love
The one I love
Don’t see Elysium
Don’t see no fiery hell
Just the lights up bright baby
In the bay hotel
Next wave coming in
Like an ocean roar
Won’t you take my hand darling
On that old dancefloor
We can twist and shout
Do the turtle dove
And you’re the one I love
You’re the one I love
The one I love
Wha. . . ? You're kidding me. This song is about a man dying in a battle? Don't I feel stupid. I totally thought it was this happy, peppy, love song. Man I'm so slow sometimes. So once I made my little discovery I read something about it on DG's website where it was referred to as; "The most beautiful song about bleeding to death you're likely to hear." And darned if they weren't right.
Doesn't it make you feel a bit stupid when something totally flies over your head like that?
Well that was pretty long winded and mostly pointless now wasn't it? Well atleast my journal page isn't completely empty now. And I did want to get my whole DG mix up thing off my chest. Though I highly doubt anyone has actually read this. Oh well. What're you gonna do? On the off chance that somebody has actually stumbled upon this and is astoundingly still reading if you're interested I'll upload the song I've been talking about so you can hear it for yourself.
Hey that was my first journal entry, what fun.
